About

Vlad Gavrilovic has a career spanning over 35 years in planning and designing for communities. He first started Paradigm Design in 1993 and for 13 years he collaborated on a variety of projects that explored sustainability and environmental and social resilience in communities throughout the East Coast, primarily in Virginia. In 2007, he went on to work for larger consulting firms that allowed him to deepen his experience in larger communities and expand his core land use and urban design expertise into transportation planning and public engagement. He has worked for firms like Sasaki Associates, Renaissance Planning and EPR,PC. He started New Paradigm in 2024 as a way to expand his collaboration with many partners and bring their experience to communities both small and large that are tackling thorny planning issues and want a nimble, experienced and unpretentious team to help them.

Vlad has led projects in a collaborative role in various planning practices in his career. Here are some stories that represent his contributions to what was always a collaborative process among partners and the public.
